QConut mobile app
Fiji
Developed by Ministry of Forests in Fiji and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forests in Tonga, QConut is a mobile geospatial application for promoting sustainable and climate-smart Pacific Island agricultural landscapes. The app targets agricultural extension officers who are trialling the application within cropping and forestry sectors. By utilising mobile geospatial technologies, the solution addresses shortcomings in location-targeted information delivery, environmental monitoring, and data sharing within Pacific Island agricultural communities. The mobile app's major impact on stakeholders in Fiji and Tonga include 1) Scientific – novel utilisation of geospatial information & technologies for community development 2) Community – enhanced adaptation capacity through application codevelopment & knowledge exchange and 3) Environmental – more sustainable & climate-smart management of agricultural landscapes through improved communications between agricultural stakeholders.
