S4S: Procurement and Processing
India
Science for Society Techno Services Pvt. Ltd., S4S offers is an Internet of Things (IoT) enabled web based solution for procurement and processing of agricultural produce, managed by women entrepreneurs. It addresses food supply chain issues, such as high post-harvest losses and inefficiencies from multiple intermediaries, by streamlining farm-gate sourcing and processing. It reduces middlemen, cuts margin leakages, and lowers logistics costs, while enhancing supply chain efficiency through energy-efficient practices and end-to-end traceability. By supporting farmers with additional income opportunities and promoting gender equality, S4S is in the commercial stage and serves both institutional customers and individual farmers. The platform incorporates the Solar Conduction Dryer (SCD) technology, a solar-powered food dehydrator that preserves produce for up to 1 year without chemicals or preservatives. S4S addresses issues in the agri-food supply chain, reduces post-harvest losses, and provides quality food ingredients to institutional customers while suppoting farmers and women entrepreneurs.
