Farmer Query System (FQS)
Bangladesh
Farmer Query System (FQS) is a mobile app based remote consultation service where user (farmer or infomediary) can place queries. An agricultural expert (who searches queries on a web-based dashboard - often accompanied by a photo) provides an appropriate and unbiased recommendation via phone call and SMS to farmer’s phone. Another feature of the app is seed variety recommendation, which helps farmers decide which variety of seed will be most appropriate based on his/her specific need and circumstance, e.g. preferred season, soil condition, pattern of disease infestation in his/her location. Crop diagnostics is another feature that helps farmers diagnose any problem in a crop, especially pest and disease infliction. Once a farmer identifies the specific problem, the app then suggests associated curative measures for that problem. The seed variety recommendation and diagnostic features function offline.
