Smart Solar Irrigation System (SirriS)
Bangladesh
Jointly funded by the Government of Bangladesh and World Bank, the Smart Solar Irrigation System (SirriS) is a sensors and mobile app based solar powered irrigation system, automating irrigation based on soil and crop data. The Smart Solar Irrigation System (SirriS) automatically controls irrigation based on the soil characteristics and crop type. The system can be monitored and controlled through a mobile or web app. By using the app, a farmer can remotely control the irrigation system, said the product information. It reduces reliance on electricity and fossil based fuels and can be remotely controlled. SirriS's innovation lies in its automated, sensor-controlled irrigation system powered by solar energy, with remote monitoring and control capabilities. Farmers in Bangladesh benefit from significant water conservation, reduced irrigation costs, increased crop yield, and decreased reliance on non-renewable energy sources. The solution has been developed by Bangladesh's Center for Renewable Energy Services Limited (CRESL).
