SPIDTECH is an app that analyses and collects user data, creating a map showing the distribution of pests and plant diseases in different parts of the Philippines. It can also be monitored remotely which facilitates data collection on pests and diseases. With this app, researchers at the University of the Philippines Los Baños seek to make knowledge about pest control more accessible to farmers. The app uses the phone camera to take a picture, which is then matched against a database of known pests. It then offers advice on what steps to take. When it is not possible to take a photo, the app invites users to answer a few questions to find the matching pest or disease.
