Blockchain based certification and meat factory operating system
Mongolia
FAO Mongolia in cooperation with the General Authority of Veterinary Services (GAVS) has developed a blockchain-based technology the “Certification and Meat Factory Operating System (MFoS)". The application is to be applied in all meat processing factories in Mongolia, starting with a successful initial testing done in April 2021 at the Bayandelger Food and Meat Processing Factory in Tuv aimag. With the new system, a meat certificate containing information on the meat origin and the health inspection is to be issued from the animal registration certificate. The certificate thus provide more transparent information and tracking possibilities for the end-users or consumers. Following the successful testing of the MFoS system, the new certificate is to be introduced by GAVS in stages to all meat processing factories in Mongolia.
