Deshifarmer
Bangladesh
DeshiFarmer is a Bangladeshi multi-agricultural stakeholder platform that provides services to farmers including agri-inputs, crop advisory, sorting, grading and packaging. With DeshiFarmer’s current solution, farmers can purchase agri-inputs and machinery, receive direct financial support from formal institutions and can apply for insurance for their crops. They have also managed to onboard channel partners as distributors. The company has outlined a strategic roadmap where they aim to offer embedded finance with built in crop insurance, export fresh produce, diversify their business model by marketing the findings of their data analytics to different stakeholders and own their own agri-input and machinery brand in the next few years. DeshiFarmer has received a mixture of grants and angel investment to assist the company in launching and kicking off its operations. The startup received $142,000 in grants from SwissContact, USAID and Banghabandhu Innovation Grant (BIG). The founders own collective investment amounted to $150,000 while angel investment totaled approximately $200,000.
