Enveritas
Indonesia
Enveritas provides sustainability assurance for the coffee and cocoa industries in Indonesia by assessing sustainability practices across three pillars at coffee origins: social, environmental and economic. Enveritas uses geospatial and machine learning to identify coffee farms through satellite imagery and monitor for issues like deforestation. Though it still relies on local partners to visit farms and confirm that sustainability standards are being followed, its technology enables Enveritas to provide verification services for free to farmers. Farmers use Enveritas for data-driven, yield-increasing technical assistance. They use a mobile application to conduct control trials that test different interventions. This tracks the results of each test, highlighting the improvements that will boost farmer’s yields and incomes. The solutions under this initiative are free for farmers, who benefit from the technical assistance programs that are designed based on the sustainability verification data. Data is often collected on the ground by a local team, who then enter the information into the application on behalf of the growers. The main technology used by this initiative are data analytics & Business Intelligence, Remote sensing.
