National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology (NMAET)
India
The National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology (NMAET) is a comprehensive initiative aimed at restructuring and strengthening agricultural extension services in India. The mission is implemented through four distinct Sub-Missions, each focusing on specific aspects of agricultural development. These sub-missions are the : Sub-Mission on Farm Mechanisation (SMAM), Sub-Mission on Seed and Planting Material (SMSP), Sub-Mission on Agriculture Extension (SMAE), and Sub-Mission on Plant Protection and Quarantine (SMPP). The Mission's objective is to restructure and fortify agricultural extension, facilitating the delivery of appropriate technology and improved agronomic practices to farmers. This involves a mix of physical outreach, interactive information dissemination methods, ICT utilization, and the promotion of modern technologies. The Mission also encourages the formation of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) through the aggregation of Farmers into Interest Groups (FIGs).
