GeoGoviya - Smart Farming Platform

Initiated by Department of Agrarian Development, GeoGoviya is a smart farming, monitoring and feedback cloud-based platform which is being used across various departments and ministries for a unified coordination and response mechanism to support agricultural production and rural development. This digital system helps officials make critical decisions based on real-time and reliable information. Geogoviya in Sri Lanka focuses on 1) using geographical information systems (GIS) to enhance agricultural productivity 2) the Agriculture Modernization Project, aimed at transforming Sri Lanka’s agriculture through innovative practices and significant impacts and 3) the Aswasuma Programme, a welfare benefit initiative designed to provide comprehensive social security support to the people of Sri Lanka. The GeoGoviya mobile application enables larger system capabilities for the Sri Lanka Government to measure, monitor and report on farm-level data. The data can also be used for better coordination among different ministries and departments to facilitate larger agricultural reforms such as providing bundled insurance solutions to farmers. The web portal of GeoGoviya has all kinds of data reports and dashboards for user friendly presentation.
